The eGreer Experience
Partager
Lukas Mayer and Filip Dian are dedicated freeriders as well as professional trail builders; they’re responsible for the legendary freeride bikepark Kalnica and regularly build at Fest events and jump trails around the globe.
They’re perfect candidates for Haro’s latest bike, the eGreer: a full-powered ebike with enduro travel and playful geometry. We shipped these friends a pair of eGreers, the eGreer Cabon 1 in Burgandy and the eGreer Carbon 3 in Stone, then checked in to see what their first ebike experience was like.

What was it like building and setting up your eGreer?
Lukas: Super easy, it comes almost fully built up so it took just a few minutes to put it together. After that just add some tire and suspension pressure, moved the levers according to your preference, oh and don’t forget to put it on charge.
By the way, You and Filip both ride size medium and so two different bikes in the same size arrived. How did you decide who would take which bike?
Lukas: We tossed a coin, winner got to choose the bike. I won.

This was your first time receiving an e-bike. What surprised you about the eGreer when you took it out of the box for the first time?
Filip: What surprised me the most was that it wasn’t as heavy as I expected it to be.
What were your first impressions?
Filip: From the moment I first sat on the bike I felt how playful and maneuverable it is. It felt a lot like my normal bike on the way down the hill.

Lukas: To be honest, my expectation was that it’s gonna be a good work tool for transportation but not as fun on the trail. This was a huge mistake. The eGreer was a huge surprise, after getting up the hill in no time and riding down some fun trails this bike got me hooked. It really keeps the playfulness of the “acoustic” Greer while adding a little extra weight that is actually super cool for stability in higher speeds, technical sections or jumps. And yes, it’s still super fun on jumps!

How do you imagine the eGreer will be useful for you this year?
Filip: For me it will definitely be handy scouting for new places to ride. As a trail builder it will be a big help at build sites, too, because I can easily carry tools uphill with it. Also, mid-build I can easily test features I’m working on multiple times.

What type of riding do you think you will you have the most fun doing with your ebike?
Filip: I think this bike will be pure fun everywhere but I’m most excited about loamy trails that normally take forever to hike up and getting to places where there’s no trail at all. I’ve had a few laps at the bike park already and found out it does great on big jumps, too.
So it’s been a few weeks now, what about having the eGreer have you enjoyed most?
Lukas: The playfulness combined with power. On the turbo mode running up the local hills is a matter of minutes and I can enjoy shredding all the different types of trails around as the bike is ready for everything. It’s been the best tool for exploring nature, getting a few extra laps after a day at work or just going for a run with the dogs. But mostly, it’s been the perfect helper for my job as a trailbuilder!
